Canadians are generally lovely, polite, gracious and generous people. So why then do we do so poorly when it comes to organ donation? Could it be our very nature that is the problem? That is — could we be too polite to have these difficult conversations?! Maybe. But the reality is there are a lot of things keeping Canadians from organ donation. The kind of change that is necessary to shift thinking is very difficult to realize. It requires education, discussion, information, opportunities for debate, and tools to assist all of these things. But mostly, this kind of change needs you. You are aware of the need to be a registered organ donor. Don’t keep it to yourself. Be a champion for organ donation.
