When many of us learned that Jim would need a new heart, we weren’t aware of the hidden mountain that must be climbed. We didn’t know that generally Canadians simply do not register to be organ donors (only 1 in 4 have done so). We didn’t know that over 1500 people in Ontario alone were also waiting for an organ donation. We never dreamed that Jim would be waiting over 17 months (and still waiting). We couldn’t have guessed that we’d be needed to spread the simple message: be a donor; sign up; tell your family.

Now that we know, we’re in this to make a difference. For Jim, for all the other people waiting for a life-saving organ.
