Here’s the good news: 90% of Canadians claim that they support organ donation and 95% of Canadians would accept an organ donation if they needed one (thanks to the good people at the because i can project for the stats). Now, here’s the bad news: less than 25% of Canadians have agreed to donate their organs. Seriously Canada?? Is this saying that 75% of us cannot possibly put ourselves into the shoes of someone who needs an organ donation now? How is it that we could be so short-sighted, cold, lacking empathy and just plain illogical? Here’s another piece of information for you then: you are 6 times more likely to need an organ transplant than to be a donor. Ready to tear your hair out yet?

We must change this story. People like Jim are on a waiting list that doesn’t have to exist. There is no logic to our abysmal donor registration numbers.
